Laura is a seasoned commercial lawyer with over 25 years’ experience across private practice and in-house leadership roles. She began her legal career as a litigator at leading international firms Jones Day and Simmons & Simmons, before moving via education into senior executive roles in industry.

Most recently, Laura served as Chief Legal and People Officer at a venture capital backed fintech start-up, having joined at seed-stage and scaled to operate across 6 countries.

A key member of the executive team, she established and led the legal, HR and compliance functions, for the large part as sole counsel, advising the business through multiple funding rounds, international expansion, regulatory compliance, M&A, business restructure and turnaround, all within a fast-paced, high-pressure start-up environment.

Laura brings a uniquely commercial and pragmatic perspective to her legal practice, informed by this experience on the other side. She understands the operational and strategic pressures clients face—particularly in periods of rapid growth or financial challenge—and is known for her clear, commercial and solutions-focused advice.

Her dual legal and HR background brings significant experience of practical HR, having established and led all operational processes along the employee lifecycle – advising on both day to day and more critical issues such as executive exit, internal investigations, business restructuring and cultural change programs.

Laura now advises clients on a wide range of matters spanning both general commercial advice and litigation, and has an enduring interest in supporting early-stage businesses through the challenges of growth to sustainable revenue.
